Meta will pay A$50 million to settle Australia’s probe into the Cambridge Analytica scandal, creating a compensation program for affected Facebook users. The deal, accepted by the Australian Information Commissioner, is the country’s largest privacy-related payment. Meta admits no liability. Civil penalty proceedings begun in 2020 have been withdrawn as part of the enforceable undertaking.
